Kick Off: Duck Grand Prix

The United Way Campaign kick's off with our traditional Duck Race October 5th at the Courtyard outside Komatke. It’s simple, just pledge $25 and you will be entered into the race, you can purchase your duck online starting 9/19/23. Optionally you can decorate your duck. This year, we have more opportunities to win with the first-ever Pageant of Ducks! Display your duck on race day before the heats for special category awards! You can also just show up and be a spectator to cheer on your favorite duck. And you can learn about other upcoming campaign events and get some theme-related swag!

The Roary’s Cup Challenge

Ongoing weekly thru November 3, 2023

Get together 4-8 of your best colleagues on campus to compete as a team in weekly challenges for the first-ever Roary’s Cup Challenge! You can form a team as a division or department, or simply form a team of cross-departmental buddies!

Come up with a team name and register your team here for $50. Your team will receive one duck which will compete in a special team heat during the Duck Grand Prix on October 5 as your first official challenge. Each week, your team will send forward up to three members to compete in a variety of challenges where you’ll earn points. The final special challenges and awarding of the Roary’s Cup will take place at the Main Event.

Community Garden Event & Day of Service

Community Garden

Co-hosted by the West Valley Gardening Group; members of the group and campus volunteers are invited to attend and participate in a Seed Swap and get a tour of the bare-bones garden the weekend before the fall garden is planted. Events will include installing Worm Bins in the garden to support healthy soil. We will also be working to establish plantings from various cultures- suggestions will be welcomed from our gardening community!

Silent and Live Auctions

Our Silent Auction will take place at the Main Event. More information is to come! The Online Auction runs from October 9th through November 1st. The online auction will end 2 days before the Main Event, and anything that doesn't sell online will be put in the silent auction at the Main Event on November 3rd. That gives us time to prepare bid sheets, etc.

Anyone with donations for the auction should email Maritza Delgado (maritza.delgado@estrellamountain.edu) and Nancy Stufflebeam (nancy.stufflebeam@estrellamountain.edu). Items can be dropped off at the Student Business Services desk in Komatke.

Join the fun and hang out with your colleagues as we wrap up our UW Campaign with our annual Main Event! Vote in the final Roary’s Cup challenges, and outbid your colleagues on your most-desired items at the live auction!

MCCCD United Way Campaign

Participate in the district-wide United Way Campaign by donating money to the Valley of the Sun United Way. You can make a one-time donation or a payroll deduction.

What Your Dollars Can Do
