The West Valley Regional Chamber hosted its 2025 Annual Awards Gala on Sept. 12 to recognize the businesses, professionals, and organizations that have contributed to the community, and three Mountain Lions from Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) took home awards!

EMCC President Dr. Rey Rivera and Associate Vice President Jonathan Robles won the President’s Award, and Avondale Mayor and EMCC Business Professor Mike Pineda earned the Outstanding Public Official Award.

Chamber President and CEO Jeffrey Campos said Dr. Rivera and Robles were selected for the award because of their efforts and teamwork with the chamber to help ensure our students, local businesses, and community thrive.

“It’s not just about membership or attendance at events, it’s about partnerships and recognizing someone who goes above and beyond, time and time again,” Campos said.

Mayor Pineda, who went up against Tolleson City Councilmember Adolfo Gamez and Goodyear City Councilmember Brannon Hampton for the award, said he was honored and humbled.

“It is a role from which I never expected any recognition or accolades, so being named Outstanding Public Official leaves me deeply moved and very grateful,” he said.
