Artists of Promise - Theatre Competition

Overview

Each year, the Maricopa Community Colleges sponsor a districtwide competition to encourage and recognize student achievement in the following categories:

  • Theatre Design (Realized)
  • Theatre Acting/Performance

Winning students will be selected to have their work shown at an Artists of Promise Gala on April 18, 2023, at Scottsdale Community College.

Competition Details

Theatre Design (Realized)

Please see the Theatre Design (Realized) Competition Rules prior to submitting your Intent to Participate form.

  • A total of 6 entries per college may be submitted for this competition and are at the discretion of the Theatre Coordinator/Design Faculty at each college.
  • Entries may be any ratio of design focus, but only six entries will be allowed from any one college.

Theatre Acting/Performance

Please see the Theatre Acting/Performance Competition Rules prior to submitting your Intent to Participate form.

  • A total of 6 entries per college may be submitted for this competition and are at the discretion of the Theatre Coordinator/Acting Faculty at each college.
  • Entries may be any ratio of gendered performers, but only six entries will be allowed from any one college.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours at the MCCCD College they are representing.
  • Students will be given a CODE by their Program Coordinator/Design or Acting Faculty to include in their Intent to Participate form.

Submission and Judging Process

Entry Process Opens: Now open

Student Entry Deadline:  March 3, 2023

  • All Intent to Participate forms are online (see links above) and need to be received by the Student Entry Deadline of Friday, March 3, 2023 at 11:59 pm.
  • Adjudication will take place in person in the John Paul Theatre at Phoenix College on Friday, March 10 from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
  • Theatre Coordinators will be notified of results as soon as results are received, but no later than March 20, 2023.

Awards

  • All awards will be issued after the Artists of Promise Gala. 
    • $500 for first place;
    • $200 for second place; 
    • $100 for third place
