Have you ever wished you had a place to be creative? Inventive? Or just a place to learn about technology?

Estrella Mountain Community College’s MakerSpace is where creativity, ingenuity, and technology collide.  The MakerSpace is a creative studio, open and free for students, staff, and faculty, centered around combining science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics for the benefit of creativity, ingenuity and design.  Makers using the space are composed of the artists, engineers, scientists, thinkers, tinkers, and inventors that make up the community of students, staff, and faculty at EMCC.

Makers have a large variety of equipment and tools at their disposal and three areas to work, learn, and create: a 900 square foot technology laboratory that features advanced technologies such as 3D Printers and Laser Engravers, a 1000 square foot fabrication shop that features woodworking equipment and tools, and a fully lit 450 square foot outdoor painting and finishing area.

The MakerSpace is designed to be open to all skill levels, whether you are an expert, or barely understand the concept, the MakerSpace staff is here to guide you through your projects and ideas from the design stages to final product.  The space includes equipment in the following areas:

  • 3D Printing,
  •  Laser Engraving, Etching, and Cutting,
  • Vinyl Decals and T-Shirt Design,
  • Sewing and Embroidery,
  • Wood Working
  • Painting and Finishing

The MakerSpace staff is equipped to provide training on the machines in the space and supervise to ensure that the equipment is being used in an appropriate and safe manner.

The MakerSpace has set weekly hours Monday through Thursday, and it available by appointment.  There are some classes that take place in the MakerSpace, so we recommend emailing the office (makerspace@estrellamountain.edu) ahead of time to ensure availability.

Use of the MakerSpace is free to students, staff, and faculty of Estrella Mountain Community College. The MakerSpace is located in the Arroyo Building in rooms ARO 192 (Technology Lab), and ARO 193 (Workshop).
