Learn Beyond the Classroom
Estrella Mountain Community College offers a variety of opportunities for students to expand their learning experiences beyond those that they acquire in the classroom. Learn more about the conferences Estrella Mountain offers its students, community members and employees, to enrich their lives through education and engagement.
Estrella Mountain is the host of the annual Maricopa Community College District Student Research Conference each spring. Students collaborate with faculty mentors to present their academic work and research on a variety of topics. The purpose of this Maricopa Student Research Conference is to provide students with the experience of presenting their own work in a formal conference environment, demonstrating the broad themes of research, innovation or creativity.
Estrella Mountain also presents the Hermanas Conference each March. The conference provides a supportive environment where young women can interact with successful Latinas in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers, explore technological careers, receive encouragement to finish school and attend college, and to pursue their goals.
