What is Concurrent Enrollment?

Concurrent Enrollment for Under 18 Students at Estrella Mountain Community College provides a unique opportunity for motivated individuals eager to kickstart their college education while still in high school.

This program is tailored for students under 18 years of age who haven't yet completed high school or attained a GED.

It's an ideal option for those looking to expand their knowledge, enhance their academic standing, and seamlessly transition into higher education.

Students who have graduated from high school or obtained a GED are seamlessly integrated into the regular student body at EMCC, regardless of age, ensuring a smooth progression into their chosen academic pathways.

Concurrent Enrollment for Under 18 Students Admissions Steps

Step 1: Apply to EMCC

Be sure to record your MEID/Student ID.

Step 2: Complete the Concurrent Enrollment for Under 18 Students Form.

Processing time: Please allow 1-3 business days for initial processing after submitting your Concurrent Enrollment Form.

Step 3: GPA Requirements

To meet admissions for the college, a high school GPA of 2.0 is required. You will be asked to add your GPA to your concurrent enrollment form. If your GPA is below 2.0, no problem! You will need to take the College Reading placement exam. Complete the Reading EdReady placement exam by following the instructions on this website.

Step 4: Complete the necessary placements

Some courses require a prerequisite before you can enroll, like English, Math, Reading, and Biology. If you are interested in taking these courses, please see the Maricopa Placement Guide.

This will outline what high school GPA is required and if any additional placement tests are needed. If you need to take the placement test, you can do so by clicking here.

Step 5: Enroll in Classes

You will receive an email at your personal email (please check your spam/junk folders) and official Maricopa email (MEID) once the Concurrent Enrollment form has been processed. You will then be able to enroll in classes online, over the phone, or in person.

Don’t know what classes to register for and want to talk to your Field of Interest Advisor? Call 623-935-8888, option 4 to schedule an appointment or visit the advisement scheduling instructions page.

Step 6: Pay for Classes!

To check the due date of your tuition and fees, go to your Online Student Center.

You can also explore ways to make payment arrangements at EMCC.

Please send an email to under18admissions@estrellamountain.edu or call 623-935-8900 to have your account updated for self-enrollment.
