Shared Governance

Shared Governance

“Shared governance is one of the basic tenets of higher education, . . . and effective, shared governance creates a healthy campus environment that can more easily act on needed change and emerging opportunity” (Association of Governing Boards, Shared Governance: Changing with the Times, 2017). Shared governance at Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is the decision-making process. Shared Governance rests upon the understanding that all stakeholders (administration, faculty, staff, and students) have a meaningful voice in decision-making, as well as a shared responsibility for the success of the institution and its students.
